Summary

In the dazzling conclusion to the Greystone Secrets series from New York Times bestselling author Margaret Peterson Haddix, the Greystones and their doubles, the Gustanos, must team up to save the alternate world--before both worlds are lost。 All secrets are revealed in this page-turning, suspenseful story that shows the importance of teamwork, telling your story, and taking action when it matters most。 Now available in paperback。

As book three of the Greystone Secrets series opens, the Greystone kids have their mother back from the evil alternate world, and so does their friend Natalie。 But no one believes the danger is past。

Then mysterious coins begin falling from unexpected places。 They are inscribed with codes that look just like what the Greystones' father was working on before he died。 And with the right touch, those symbols transform into words: PLEASE LISTEN。 And FIND US, SEE US, HELP US。 。 。 。

The coins are messengers, telling the Greystones and their allies that their friends in the alternate world are under attack--and that the cruel, mind-controlling forces are now invading the better world, too。

After another spinning, sliding journey across worlds, the Greystone kids must solve mysteries that have haunted them since the beginning: what happened when the Gustanos were kidnapped, what created the alternate world, and how a group of mismatched kids can triumph once and for all against an evil force that seems to have total control。

Completed the storyThe second book has more of a complete ending than the first。 This third book completes the story and wraps everything up。 It was ok but a little weird and nonsensical。 I'm glad the story was resolved but the resolution didn't make a ton of sense。 Completed the storyThe second book has more of a complete ending than the first。 This third book completes the story and wraps everything up。 It was ok but a little weird and nonsensical。 I'm glad the story was resolved but the resolution didn't make a ton of sense。 。。。more

Actual rating 3。5。 I really like the other 2 in this series。 This one felt very slow, very repetitive and more juvenile than the other 2。 I understand these are young reader books but the focus of this book seems much much younger。 I love MPH but this seems as if it was written for number of pages and she needed to fill the story up。 I'm a little disappointed in this one。 Actual rating 3。5。 I really like the other 2 in this series。 This one felt very slow, very repetitive and more juvenile than the other 2。 I understand these are young reader books but the focus of this book seems much much younger。 I love MPH but this seems as if it was written for number of pages and she needed to fill the story up。 I'm a little disappointed in this one。 。。。more

I absolutely adore this series! This was everything I needed to read right now as a mom and as a sister。 I know how Emma felt this whole series wanting to figure everything out for her siblings。 I’m the middle child too so I get it。 I’m also a mom and know how Kate felt。 The willingness to do anything to keep your children safe is a strong impulse。 I think everyone should read this series and this final installment was amazing。

Harder to follow for me than the first two books in this series。

This was a really nice end to the series!! (Though I could see where there is a potential for more books haha 😉) It was interesting to see how the concept of two mirrored worlds interacted with one another, and it was fun to go on another adventure with Chess, Emma, and Finn。 I do wish that we had some more of Natalie in this one, since she was stuck back in the other world half the time, but with all the other characters who joined the journey I guess I can see why it would have been a little c This was a really nice end to the series!! Well。 the trilogy is over。 This last one, I found myself thinking over and over, ' Wow, that's pretty heavy handed'。 Yes, truth, honor and love。 We get it。 Well。 the trilogy is over。 This last one, I found myself thinking over and over, ' Wow, that's pretty heavy handed'。 Yes, truth, honor and love。 We get it。 。。。more

This was fabulous and so well written! The finale to this series was fantastic and I positively loved the plot! The ending was very satisfying, even if it left you with questions。 The characters were well developed and even though I couldn’t really connect with any of them, they were interesting nonetheless。 I’m glad I read this series, even if it wasn’t my favorite, because in it’s pages was another story of another’s life and I was so glad I got to live through it。

Greystone Secrets: The Messengers was a very exciting and suspenseful book。 I found it very entertaining and interesting。 There are many mystery's and twists。 This book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it。 I love the relationship between the three Greystone siblings and how their personality's are so different but they are so close as a family。 I also really enjoyed the concept of an alternate world thought all three of the Greystone Secrets series。 As the final book Greystone Secrets: The Messengers was a very exciting and suspenseful book。 I found it very entertaining and interesting。 There are many mystery's and twists。 This book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it。 I love the relationship between the three Greystone siblings and how their personality's are so different but they are so close as a family。 I also really enjoyed the concept of an alternate world thought all three of the Greystone Secrets series。 As the final book of the trilogy, I found some of the final explanations about the alternate world a little hazy and confusing, but overall this was a very good book and a very good ending to the series! 。。。more

This is a pretty cute series and I love the relationship among the siblings。 Finn is adorable, Emma is a borderline genius, and Chess is a good leader and big brother。 The alternate world with doubles of everyone is interesting and fun and I've enjoyed following the characters through the three books。 I didn't like this one quite as much as the others, maybe because the plot was similar to book two。 I still had a good time listening to it though and the narrator for these does a great job bringi This is a pretty cute series and I love the relationship among the siblings。 Finn is adorable, Emma is a borderline genius, and Chess is a good leader and big brother。 The alternate world with doubles of everyone is interesting and fun and I've enjoyed following the characters through the three books。 I didn't like this one quite as much as the others, maybe because the plot was similar to book two。 I still had a good time listening to it though and the narrator for these does a great job bringing the siblings to life。 This wraps up the series nicely, including Chess finally doing something about his crush on Natalie。 I hope Haddix writes another middle grade series after this! 。。。more

Meh。 This was a bit of a let-down for the whole series, but a solid ending nevertheless。 A good group of kids, but I don’t understand the introduction of all the new kids and the exclusion of Natalie after all of her characterization and importance in the two previous books?

I read this series with my 12 year old and I didn’t love it but my daughter liked the books。 I thought they were kind of boring and dragged on in parts。 I like the concept of mirrored worlds。 There were something’s I couldn’t make sense of…like why Mrs。 Greystone, Chess, Emma & Finn all had basically exact doubles in a family from the other world but yet the dad didn’t? This is nit-picky but I also became annoyed by how many times the author used “they’d” or he’d” instead of mixing it up sometim I read this series with my 12 year old and I didn’t love it but my daughter liked the books。 I thought they were kind of boring and dragged on in parts。 I like the concept of mirrored worlds。 There were something’s I couldn’t make sense of…like why Mrs。 Greystone, Chess, Emma & Finn all had basically exact doubles in a family from the other world but yet the dad didn’t? I kept getting confused when other characters were added, with their doubles and all this talk about coins (I honestly never want to hear that word again😂😭)。 The Messengers didn't hold my attention like the beginning titles, I contemplated dnfing but wanted to finish this series。 Otherwise it was a nice conclusion to this series。 This was kind of a dud compared to the flow of its first two books, so I was a little disappointed。 I kept getting confused when other characters were added, with their doubles and all this talk about coins (I honestly never want to hear that word again😂😭)。 The Messengers didn't hold my attention like the beginning titles, I contemplated dnfing but wanted to finish this series。 Otherwise it was a nice conclusion to this series。 This was kind of a dud compared to the flow of its first two books, so I was a little disappointed。 。。。more

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/ 5 I loved the first two books, but this one kind fell flat。 The final book went the way I expected。 It just wasn’t as mysterious and action packed like I typically read!

It’s rare for every book in a series to be a five-star book。 I tore through this series and loved every mysterious turn。 So fun。

Kind of a convoluted conclusion。 Felt like maybe the author bit off more than she could chew and didn't really know how to tie it up。 Also - where was Natalie???? We spent the whole book separated from her and introduced some new characters to replace her who I didn't really care about。 Kind of a convoluted conclusion。 Felt like maybe the author bit off more than she could chew and didn't really know how to tie it up。 Also - where was Natalie???? I didn't like this book as much as the first two, but it was still fun。 The relationship that developed between the two worlds made zero sense to me and the "science" just got more and more whacky。 Still, I loved the characters and it explored some interesting themes。 Plus, my 8 year old loved it! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I almost DNFed this one。 The sociopolitical overtones that had been present in the other books became unbearable in this one。 It presented the problems and evils present in government and media without offering actual solutions。 This book felt bloated。 The dialogue dragged on and on。 The same thoughts and fears were repeated over and over。 It was depressing to read and I couldnt wait to be done with it。 And honestly the coins confused me so much。 Were they messages or teleportation devices or wa I almost DNFed this one。 The sociopolitical overtones that had been present in the other books became unbearable in this one。 It presented the problems and evils present in government and media without offering actual solutions。 This book felt bloated。 The dialogue dragged on and on。 The same thoughts and fears were repeated over and over。 It was depressing to read and I couldnt wait to be done with it。 And honestly the coins confused me so much。 Were they messages or teleportation devices or wards against lies? Good, worst on the trio。

For literally half the book I just skimmed and flipped through。 In every single chapter someone gets hypnotized by the TVs and then when they’re pulled away they’re like “oh my gosh! You saved me!” It gets old very quickly。 It’s a weird add on to the first and second books。 It’s very childish。 The kids switch back and forth between being way too smart and being incredibly gullible。 It’s been down hill ever since the first book。

Lindsay

Conclusion not as great as the rest of the series, but still a good adventure and my girls enjoyed。
